1 July (Sunday), 4 pm – The Barge on the Vistula, Bulwar Filadelfijski
The N-Harmonia Chamber Music Orchestra is a chamber music string ensemble composed of young talented musicians who are still studying at musical schools and academies of music in eleven Polish cities. Its members have played with the leading young orchestras in Poland and abroad and won numerous prizes at country-wide and international competitions.
During their concert set in the beautiful scenery of Bulwar Filadelfijski they will present a repertoire of musical pieces mostly associated with dance, a ‘the best of’ selection of compositions usually played by string orchestras.
The concert will begin with Serenade by the late M. Karłowicz, with its individual parts referring to such genres of dance as march, romance and waltz. This will be followed by Capricol Suite by P. Warlock, composed in the early 20th century but strongly reminiscent of Renaissance dance music (such as pavane, tourdion, and branle). The programme also includes the nostalgic yet carefree Nordic Melodies by E. Grieg inspired by Norwegian folk music. The final piece will be the Divertimento in D major by W. A. Mozart, a delightful and scintillating composition which continues to be an epitome of classical beauty.
