19th August (Saturday), 8 pm – Great Hall of the Artus Court
YOUNG PIANO VIRTUOSOS
Admission free with prior reservation

The festival concert of the day will present the most famous musical pieces for piano performed by young talented artists from all over the world. The participants in the Paderewski Piano Academy, ever more numerous and coming from Europe, Asia and America, will play to the accompaniment of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra during rehearsals and four concerts in Inowrocław, Chełmno, Toruń and Bydgoszcz.

The Jury of this year’s edition of the Academy is composed of four eminent piano professors from Germany, Hungary and Russia: Prof. Bernd Goetzke, Prof. Jan Jiracek von Arnim, Prof. Andrey Shibko and Prof. Balázs Szokolay.

The Toruń concert will be held in the Great Hall of the Artus Court. The qualified young virtuosos, to the accompaniment of the Toruń Symphony Orchestra conducted by Przemysław Fiugajski, will play selected pieces from piano concertos by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Grieg, Saint-Saëns, Brahms, Tschaikovsky and Rakhmaninov.

The repertoire to be presented will be known only the day before the concert, following the decision of the Jury concerning the soloists selected for the performance. But we may be sure of at least one thing: the concert will be teeming with emotion and include brilliant interpretations of masterpieces of piano music!
